How Our Design Process Works | KMC Weddings & Events

Our design process is about understanding what makes each couple’s story, style and personality unique. We ask all the tough and sometimes silly questions to get you to talk about things you would never realize are important to putting your personal details together and creating an overall wedding aesthetic that echos your style outside of the wedding world.

We stay away from copying what you’ve seen online and focus on making things make sense for you. We choose details with intention and make sure the story behind that decision is apparent when your guests are experiencing it on the wedding day.

The Beginning

First, we start to get to know you through a design questionnaire and collecting inspiration photos of not just wedding items, but fashion, home decor, etc. After reading through and chatting with you, we create your overall wedding mood board and color palette.

After talking through the initial concept and colors, we work with our floral designers to design the details from installations to centerpieces to layout, linens, seating chart display and more. We will put together into a design presentation talking about what we envision for flowers, ceremony decor, reception vibe and everything in between.

Because this is your wedding, we don’t present these ideas of design to you etched in stone. During our conversations, we have opportunity to adjust things, change your mind or add and take away details. It is very fluid and the design can evolve especially when you get to the mock-up.

The Middle

At the mock-up, things feel the most real. We present your florals, linen and napkin options, chargers, flatware, glassware, chairs and more so you can play with those little details your guests will interact with on wedding day. Sometimes you get there and find you like things way more than you thought you would because, as visual creatures, you never really know until you see it. Then sometimes, the things you were asking for aren’t exactly in line with your vision once you see it. The mock-up is the perfect opportunity to really lock in the ideas and feel really good about the overall aesthetic of your wedding.

When mock-up is done, we update orders with the rental companies and the floral designer makes adjustments. The final details of design such as wedding day signage and seating display and finalizing cakes and desserts are all included in our services as well. Creating a cohesive design around each area of your events is important to us. While also making sure your wedding doesn’t look like a copy of someone else’s.

The Happy Ending

We want you to enjoy the journey of wedding planning and design. We are here to guide you in decisions and present you with options that are even outside the box for you to consider. Understanding what’s important to you, what you value and prioritize, and what you don’t, helps us when creating for you. We have to marry the logistics with the pretty (and with the budget).

More About The Design Featured

This design shown here specifically had so many moving parts with multiple rental vendors from three different states. This was a collaborative creative project where KMC Weddings & Events partnered with The Budding Florist Cincy. We worked together to pull many ideas into creating the brides ideal wedding design and making her FLORAL dreams come true.

The main priority for this design was the overall aesthetic and an emphasis on florals. Through this collaboration we were able to achieve a dreamy aesthetic, along with a unique layout for this venue including two sections of seating that included 4 settees back to back around 9 ft tall floral arrangements. Each settee shared a square table with 6 additional chairs. The couple was over the moon, and we were so grateful to be able to work with them and all the amazing vendors of this wedding to bring this design to fruition.
